CISCE wishes Happy Teachers’ Day in advance to all the teachers!
Pursuant to the circular dated 12 February 2025 announcing the release of Regulations and Syllabuses for ISC Examination Year 2027, CISCE has released exemplar formats of all topics prescribed under Directed Writing for English-Paper 1 (Language).
Since the components of syllabus of English-Paper 1 (Language) for ISC Year 2027 have been expanded with the addition of the topic ‘Blog Writing’, prototypes for each topic have been provided to scaffold teaching-learning process and ensure consistency in assessment practices.
The document titled ‘Unpacking Directed Writing: A Ready Resource for Teachers and Learners of English Language at ISC Level’ provides samples of each topic specified under Directed Writing thereby, outlining their essential attributes. This document has been curated to enable teachers to facilitate learners in writing well-structured and cohesive pieces.
The section on ‘Rubric’ familiarises both teachers as well as learners with the criteria for assessing Directed Writing and giving feedback, different levels of performance and the descriptors explaining each level. While teachers can use it to teach and provide concrete and appropriate feedback to the learners, learners can refer to it to be cognizant of the expected performance standards of writing and track their own progress.
